On Monday, an extensive meeting was held to prepare the National Framework for Scientific Qualifications for Libyan universities in the fourth generation of universities. The meeting was attended by Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Aoud, the acting General-Director of the Board, and Dr. Hussein Marjeen, the President of the Association.
Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Aoud opened the meeting by welcoming the attendees present in person and those attending via Zoom. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of this meeting as part of the current global shift in teaching and learning methods, educational outcomes, and graduate attributes.
Dr. Hussein Marjeen, the President of the Association, presented a presentation on the National Framework for Scientific Qualifications for Libyan universities. He emphasized that preparing the national framework is vital towards improving the quality of higher education, enhancing skills and competencies, identifying graduate attributes, and that the matter requires reviewing and updating legislation, laws, and regulations to ensure compliance with the legal framework of national qualifications.
Several regional experts participated in this meeting, including Dr. Sultan Abu Al-Arabi, Dr. Tarek Al-Sindi, Dr. Nasser Sarhan, Dr. Ahmed Al-Jamal, Dr. Ali Arjash, and Dr. Ashraf Al-Muzayni.
“Finally, the attendees agreed on the necessity of issuing a decision from the Council of Ministers regarding the formation of a national committee to prepare the National Framework for Scientific Qualifications for Libyan universities based on regional experiences. The framework should be comprehensive for all stages of education and take into account the requirements of the labor market and the development needs in Libya.
