A workshop titled ‘Urban Planning Reform and Development’ was held today, Monday, at the Board’s headquarters. It was attended by the Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation, the Minister of Tourism and Traditional Industries, the Deputy Minister of Housing and Urban Development, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Mohammed Al-Raeid, a member of the House of Representatives, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Statistics and Census Authority, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Survey Authority, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Consultative Office, Dean of the College of Engineering, and a group of specialists and stakeholders.
The workshop covered several topics, including a phased project proposal presentation. The most prominent titles were as follows: (Project Overview, Urban Planning and Related Legislation, Institutional and Planning System, Best International Practices)
This workshop aims to address the reality and the possibility of contributing to the implementation of this project, which benefits the state and its citizens
The following recommendations were issued at the end:
• Involving specialists in preparing, reviewing, and approving plans.
• Working on preparing legal amendments and projects based on the results of planning and institutional teams.
• Developing planning standards that respond to flexibility and resilience requirements.
